Rationale

My topic was locations to have a picnic in Wellington, including spots such as Waitangi Park, the Botanic Garden and Mt Vic. I wanted to create a calm, subtle and relaxing feeling and give in my brochure a simplistic and clean look.
How I went about portraying this was through using a little amount of black, only using it for text, and using bright and warm colours, trying to portray the feeling of a picnic on a warm day. I personalised each picnic spread by having different images of the site and also different icons that relate to that location. I also tried to include a picnic basket in each spread to reiterate the idea of having a picnic.

What I learned through this process was that keeping up with work and also the work blog is important. I also became more comfortable with Indesign throughout this assignment.

Week 6

On Monday the tutors looked at my work and suggested Find another way to include the picnic basket in my spreads, as my attempt to include a picnic basket were clashing with the rest of the look of the spread. They also said that I should try include a third layer to further personalise each spread.
I Decided to include icons at the bottom of each spread that have a relationship with each site and spread topic.

Week Five

This week I began work on making the map for my 3 locations. what I wanted to do trace over roads, public parks and water to show the city. I played with the idea of using an icon of a picnic basket to point out my three picnic locations, but ultimately I decided to use different coloured circles to represent different locations.
I have decided that the illustration I was going for is not working in my brochure and have begun removing those elements from my work and working more with image and icons in my brochure, almost completely changing the look of my brochure yet keeping the soft and subtle look my previous work had.
